Foreign Service Officer, U.S. Department of State Sept. 2005 – present
Selected as one of only 350 new officers in 2005 from roughly 20,000 applicants to serve as a career diplomat for the U.S. Government. Hired for abilities such as leadership, resourcefulness, communication skills, and cultural adaptability, my career emphasis is on management concerns such as human resources, budget/finance, information systems, logistics, and building maintenance. I hold a Top Secret clearance.
After completing training in Washington, DC, my first assignment was to El Salvador. The General Services Office overseas the procurement, warehousing, motor pool, housing, shipping, and travel sections.
· Manage 47 employees and 126 full-time contractors
· Serve as the Contracting Officer, with a $250K warrant, overseeing $4.2M in annual purchases
· Award $5.6M between these contracts: Local Guard, Shipping, Janitorial, Gardening, and Telecom
· Direct the $1.5M residential leasing program, negotiating appropriate housing for Embassy personnel
· Coordinate logistics for all shipments to or from the Embassy via surface or air
· Integrate 14 new personnel into my teams as part of a $735K merger with USAID
Even though not part of my initial assignment, the Ambassador noticed my capabilities and selected me to work as his personal staff assistant. My contributions include among many other varied duties:
· Collect, edit, review all briefing materials for the Ambassador
· Coordinate trip details and public appearances
Business Development Specialist, Satcom Wireless, Orem, UT Aug. 2004 – May 2005
· Manage and motivate 21 employees and subcontractors in four states and five different offices
· Supervise recruiting and other HR activities such as training, performance reviews, and payroll
· Calculate, purchase, and track over $600K of inventory
· Obtain $100K letter of credit, refine process to reduce accounts payable
· Create and analyze statistical reports such as effectiveness of newspaper ads, production levels of new sales, best areas for lead generation, etc.
· Write 116 page company policy and training manual
Executive Assistant, Satcom Wireless, Orem, UT Aug. 2003 – Aug. 2004
· Manage two full-time employees including the office manager
· Improve processes such as tracking customer orders, designing the company website, and IT security
· Close both inbound and outbound sales

· Full time missionary, ordained minister, supervise 18 other missionaries
